Pfizer has confirmed it has halted development of an Ozempic-style pill after regarding uncomfortable side effects had been found.

The pharmaceutical giant had hoped its once-a-day danuglipron creation, a GLP-1 drug in oral kind, would mimic the consequences of the favored weight loss drug Ozempic.

The company says it stays dedicated to developing an offering for “cardiovascular and metabolic diseases including obesity”, and that it will present that information collected via its now-shelfed trial to a scientific discussion board.

The dumping of the Ozempic-like-drug comes as international pharmaceutical giants race to compete for the profitable market.

Currently, Ozempic and Mounjaro maintain a lions share of the weight loss wonder-drug market.
